AuraLight Community Engagement

AuraLight is supported by three ACE values. These values, which guide the way our organization conducts itself, are advocacy, community and education. While we strive to provide our customers with high-quality products from a friendly and knowledgeable staff, it is just as important to be a force for helpful and effective change. Much of the staff and executive team at AuraLight has chosen Aurora as their community. We live here, work here, and have families here. As such, it is crucial that we not only conduct business in Aurora, but tirelessly work to make the area a better place for all of us.

Of course, we could not make these strides without our fantastic partners. AuraLight works with several partners to ensure the most effective impact in Aurora and its surrounding region. AuraLight is proud to be partnered with the following organizations as well as many more institutions that are involved in the improvement of our area.

Our Partners

A clean community is a well-functioning one. It is vital to the health of a city to maintain its infrastructure that we all use to get to work, go shopping and just live our lives. The Illinois Department of Transportation allows citizen volunteers to be a part of this mission through their “Adopt-A-Highway” program. Just about anyone can take part in these efforts, including civic groups, clubs, churches, etc. Volunteers are given a two-mile section of road which they are then responsible for removing litter from at least four times each year for a two-year period.

AuraLight has adopted a stretch of highway through this program and are proud to be committed to the health of Aurora’s infrastructure. If you find yourself driving on the stretch of road between Illinois Avenue and Sullivan Road on IL 31, let us know how we’re doing! Please consider rounding up a group of your friends, coworkers or association members and taking part in this important service. Illinois needs your help to keep our roads clean.

Charity Blooms

Accessing fresh produce is something that many take for granted, but it is not an easy issue for everyone. Charity Blooms seeks to aid in that issue for the Aurora community. Charity Blooms is a community farm that supplies fresh produce to those in need. Since its opening in 2018, Charity Blooms has provided thousands of residents with fresh produce as well as serving as a social space for volunteers, and a place for locals to gain education on farming, gardening and nutrition. The farm is located at 835 N. Highland Ave in Aurora, across the street from the Marie Wilkinson Food Pantry. Charity Blooms makes every effort to have everything available that volunteers may need.

Marie Wilkinson Food Pantry

One of the most pressing issues facing our world today is access to affordable, nutritious and healthy food. In Aurora, the Marie Wilkinson Food Pantry is an institution in aiding with basic life needs to those who don’t have them. The food pantry is one of the oldest of its kind in the city, founded in the 1950s by Marie Wilkinson. Wilkinson was a life-long social and civil rights activist who supported causes related to poverty, hunger, homelessness, joblessness, and injustice. The food pantry continues to serve those in need in Aurora, Kane County, and the surrounding area.

The pantry produces several vital programs, including cooking classes, supporting community gardens, delivering food to senior homes and providing food throughout the city. There are several ways to volunteer and they need yours and our help. Opportunities to help include aiding in sharing food, sorting donations, helping with the community garden and more. No matter where your interest lies there are fun and productive ways to help this crucial organization. Please consider supporting or volunteering with the Marie Wilkinson Food Pantry for a healthier and more bountiful community.

Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry

AuraLight also recently donated 5 bags of gently used women’s and children’s clothing to the Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry. The pantry hosts a Community Closet on Wednesdays and Fridays from 10-3pm, where neighbors in need have access to clothes at no cost to them. Visit their website,, to learn ways that you could help too!

Partnering in Action

While we’re happy to support our partners vocally, AuraLight believes the best way to enact a beneficial change is through action. Since starting, we have been fortunate to have the opportunity to get out and champion our partners. This includes our volunteering at Charity Blooms for their Annual Harvest dinner in August 2023.

We cannot wait to do it again next year. Though it’s early, mark your calendars for the premiere event in Aurora for the Fall season. Charity Blooms also holds several other events throughout the year that we will be happy to support and attend. We hope to see you there!

Mutual Ground

AuraLight believes in leading by example in community action. We have recently been working with Mutual Ground to supply some much-needed items. We recently donated some cleaning supplies, toilet paper, baby wipes, shampoo, and

bar soap to Mutual Ground. Mutual Ground is a domestic abuse treatment center where survivors can begin their journey of healing. Visit their website, to learn more about their services or to get involved.
